Customise miso soup with a few finely chopped spears or swap fennel for asparagus in this recipe. Asparagus roasted under a blanket of crispy chilli-lemon crumbs is a lovely side dish, or top with a poached egg and call it dinner.
They require very little preparation – simply bend the spears until they naturally snap (use the woody ends in stocks or soups).
