These creamy white, earthy root vegetables are a Christmas classic and can easily be turned into a number of festive sides. For one of our favourites, slice them into matchsticks, toss them in olive oil, season, drizzle with maple syrup and roast them. Job done.
They are more than good when served with these on-trend spicy cranberry chicken wings or turned into silky dumplings that shimmer in a soothing broth when mashed with potato.
