With busy week days and nights (work, school, homework) and hectic weekends (sports practice, music lessons), family time can be scarce. So Mother’s Day is a chance for everyone to slow down together and devote time to creating lasting family memories.
Kaya Scott, from popular parenting website Sassy Mama Dubai, was treated to exactly that by her three children, Violet, Felix and Arthur. The kids, with help from their dad, prepared a spread
of breakfast treats:
Mum's coffee, banana and coconut smoothie
Prepare 8g of spinneysFOOD Colombian Coffee with 300ml boiling water. Leave to cool then freeze overnight in an ice cube tray. Slice ½ banana and freeze. In the morning, blitz the banana, 2 or 3 coffee cubes, 100g COYO Coconut Milk Yogurt and 100ml Alpro Coconut Milk until smooth. Add agave syrup to taste, if you like.
Clementine, mango and lime smoothie
Peel and roughly chop 1 ClemenGold clementine, 50g mango and ½ lime. Freeze overnight.
In the morning, blitz the frozen fruit with 175g Rachel's Mango Yogurt in a blender until completely smooth. Pour into a glass to serve.
Violet’'s strawberry smoothie
Halve 80g strawberries and slice ½ banana. Freeze overnight. In the morning,
blitz the frozen fruit with 175ml Yeo Valley Milk and ½ tsp agave syrup in a blender until completely smooth. Pour into a glass to serve.
We added no-cook overnight oat pots and crêpe cake to the mix and took it all outside for an al fresco family breakfast. And with Mum relaxed and full of food and love, it was the ideal moment to shower her with flowers and presents...
