Instagram boasts many a mouth-watering shot of food and offers the chance to share delicious dishes worthy of anyone’s #foodenvy. Reflecting on 2017’s Insta-journey, here are our favourite posts so far:
Scale it up
Regrammed from the image’s photographer Sukaina Rajabali, it wasn’t just its beautiful simplicity that made us love this salmon pic – we enjoyed your four recipes too; crispy skinned fish with mango and avocado salsa, a fillet marinated with paprika, thyme and lemon juice, pan-fried fish with masala and hung curd and an oven-baked offering with herbs, garlic butter, chili flakes and a sprinkling of sea salt. Producing the likes
The grass-fed beef in store is something we’re truly proud of, and meat producer San Jose del Oeste, who rear their cattle without antibiotics or added hormones, is a company we’re all for shouting about. And let’s face it, there’s nothing like a shot of meat to capture the audience’s attention and get them thinking about how to use it (which reminds us, try it in this delicious three mustard tenderloin).
February 14th beckoned the need for love-inspired meals but it seems 2017 was a Valentine’s for mates, not dates. A thumbs up was given to inviting a few friends over for a night of fun, films and fully loaded steak sandwiches; food is for sharing with those you adore and nothing sums that up more than this build-your-own bar.

Scoring points for cuteness were the children of Safa Community School, who told us why they love their mum for Mother’s Day. Equipped with a giant card and some awww-inducing reasons – including that their mum is the best mum ever! – this was one post that melted hearts everywhere.
Early riser, speedy diner
Eight 15-minute breakie ideas that aren’t toast – a post you want to wake up to in the morning. Search for #breakfast and it’ll prove the famous chime that the ‘morning meal is the most one of the day’. We like these recipes because they’re quick, convenient and super tasty.
A recipe for success
Reader recipes let us know what you’re cooking in your kitchen and we were obsessed (and still are!) with these dainty little mango and avocado bites by Spinneys Magazine reader and food photographer Hind Hamad. Want to see what others have been creating? Right this way. If you have a winning recipe and would like to feature in Spinneys Magazine, get in touch with us on social media.
The sweetest of wins
We love a little competition, especially when it involves chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate (did we say chocolate?). In the run up to World Chocolate Day, we offered you guys the chance to get your hands on the ultimate chocolate hamper (congratulations to the winner, Muhammed Anees). Bars of chocolate stacked upon one another with melted chocolate pouring over the top? Definitely do try this at home.
Bake it like you create it
A cookie and a brownie met one day in the Spinneys kitchen and sparks flew. We were thrilled to introduce the brookie and even more pleased with the glorious recreation by Dubai-based food blogger Malavika Raghavan.
