The Spinneys List: 4 things to do in Dubai this weekend

Cricket, photography awards, buggy runs and more

For the keen cricketers… day one of the Pakistan Super League

If a bat, ball and some expert sportsmanship are your bag, then journey down to the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Sports City today from 6:30pm onwards for the opening ceremony and game. Tickets start at Dhs 30, which is a steal considering champions Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi are first up for your sporting entertainment. Buy yours here.

For the happy snappy folk… Sony World Photography Awards

From tomorrow until the 11 February, the Sony World Photography Awards will be showcasing some of 2016 and 2017's best photos – you can even submit yours for free and stand the chance of taking home a share of $30,000 (USD). Head down to the Warehouse 82 at Alserkal Avenue to enjoy some brilliant snapshots that, this time, aren’t on your newsfeed. Find out more here.

For the buggy babes...The Buggy Run

Run buggies, run! Or, stroll, walk, skip, sing, dance… whatever takes your fancy. Dubai Motor City Autodrome is offering a fun and easy run for mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandparents – basically anyone with a pushchair. With an option of either 2.5km or 5km, this is for those looking to set a casual Friday pace. Registration opens at 6:30am (the race starts at 7:30am) and will cost you Dhs 150 if you’re a single runner with one buggy, or Dhs 245 for two runners. Enjoy post-race family-friendly activities until 12pm.

For the sweethearts… fall in love with food

There may be an abundance of activities in the city this weekend but with Valentine’s Day fast approaching, there’s something to be said for staying in, cosying up and cooking up a lovely menu at home for that someone special. If brunch is your thing, we’ve got more than a few meals you’ll fall in love with (and so too will the person you’re making it for).

Speaking of Valentine’s, here are plenty of recipes that’ll score you some brownie points. Don’t mention it.
