Amy's Diary: 5 top foodie picks for February

Food editor Amy Fullwood sends love the way of a few activities and aspirations for February

From the heart

However you plan to mark Valentine’s Day, I promise there’s a place for a piece of Neufchâtel cheese; not only is it deliciously creamy, it’s heart-shaped too. Served with crusty bread it’s a treat, but if you’re looking to go the extra mile I recommend pairing with our chocolate, cherry and sea salt biscotti.

Fest to impress

The Dubai Food Festival is back with a whole host of different events from 23 February to 11 March. Find food trucks at the Etisalat Beach Canteen on Kite Beach, make your bookings for restaurant week (you’ll find me at Pai Thai) and head to dubaihiddengems.com to vote for your most-loved foodie hidden gem in the city.

Sommer lovin’

In the spirit of trying to keep healthy resolutions going, I’ve been drinking plenty of fresh juices. When I have no time to blend my own, I pick up one of Sommer Naturals’ juices instead. The apple, carrot, pineapple and ginger variety is my favourite.

Super bowls

If, like me, your January health kick didn’t last quite as long as planned, why not get on track with an on-trend grain bowl? You’ll find six Instagram-tastic recipes right here – halloumi with couscous, pomegranate and edamame, anyone?

Waste stars

We can all be guilty of letting food go to waste, but weekly meal plans, getting creative with leftovers and freezing extras can make a real difference. Check out this article, all about turning scraps into stars. Eco-chef Tom Hunt (@tomsfeast) has a brilliant book on the subject called The Natural Cook – he inspired me much so I chose him as my wedding caterer.
