A long weekend is music to our ears. Whether you feel that extra day is a chance to try something new and exciting or to stay home, unwind and do some seriously scrumptious cooking, there’s an option for everyone. Here are our top picks for ways you could spend the next three days:
For the homebodies … baking
Get the whole family involved in the kitchen with brilliant bakes – we’ve got a few recipes that will keep you all entertained for hours. Are you a baking novice? Don’t stress – all the tips, tricks and techniques you need are right here.
For a laugh… Russell Howard at Dubai College Auditorium
Popular British comedian is set to make his first appearance in Dubai with his Round the World Tour. If you’re up for a few laughs (and let’s face it, at the end of a long week that’s all anyone wants) journey down to Dubai College Auditorium tonight and Friday at 7pm, or Saturday at 6:30pm. Get your tickets here.
For the bookworms… check out beach libraries
Can’t decide between cosying up with a book and hitting the beach? Well now you don’t have to: if you love literature and the feeling of sand between your toes check out Dubai Municipality’s new reading areas at eight beaches across Dubai. Equipped with beanbags, tables, and chairs, this new initiative is one we love. If you’re more of a nighttime reader not to worry – there are lights available so that you can still turn the pages after dark.
For the cycling enthusiasts… get the wheels out
We love, love, love cycling. There’s nothing better than the feeling of wind in your hair, the open road and a spare few hours to push those pedals. Whether you’re a lone rider, part of a team or on a family day out, the UAE offers plenty of places to take to the track. Do you really want to test yourself? Sign up for the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge. Last year was a hit, so don’t miss out.
For the outdoor adventurers… a spot of camping
With the weather seriously heating up, this long weekend might be one of the last to sit around a campfire enjoying some delicious barbecue food. There are many places in the UAE that offer great spaces to pitch up a tent – check out our complete camping guide.
