How many years have you been participating in the Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, or is this your first time?
Four of us have competed before but it’s the first time for the rest of us.
What’s the average age of your group?
Our ages vary quite a bit, so we like to think of ourselves as just numbers and hearts.
What inspired you to take part?
We all met on the cycle track so the sport has always been a fundamental part of our friendship. Mainly, it helps us to lose weight and keep fit; it’s nice to be able to encourage each other and this is something we always try to do.
Are you following a specific training plan?
Not really, we just aim to stay together.
Have you adopted a special diet to help you prepare?
All we aim to do is encourage each other, which is why we try to stick to the same diet and training schedules.
What do you enjoy about cycling and the Cycle Challenge?
The best thing about the event is that is gives us a platform to really push ourselves. With each build-up ride we are given the opportunity to better our performance and this is what we enjoy the most.
Do you have any words of advice for those attempting this for the first time?
Just enjoy the ride! And stay safe by sticking to your lines and knowing your limits; use the build-up rides to work up your pace gradually as a team – that’s what they’re there for. Everyone has their own strengths so it’s just about knowing what they are and having fun with it. At the end of the day, at least you can say you’ve finished! Anyways... we’re starving, so it’s on to the food truck next!
